So you’re looking at the pretty front page and wondering where this rabbit hole will lead you? You’ve found the correct document for that. This document will describe what you can do on the portal as a user of it.
If you have not registered on the site, you can only view public information, but don’t worry, we’ve not hidden any information or documents from your eyes. You need to be logged in only to achieve a change on the site. Our aim is to keep the structure of the site very simple so you, the users of the site, can actually find what you want on the site.
2.1. Basic navigation
This is how we’ve thought you’d use our site. In this section we’re going to explain to you the basic principles and ideas behind how you can navigate around and find the things you’ll want.
2.1.1. Top menu
The top menu always contains the first level of navigation. This is to allow fast switching between sections without the need to go to the front page all the time. It is nice to have: it will minimize your mouse usage and mouse usage will on the long term kill your elbow and wrist.
2.1.2. Side menu
The side menu contains the contents of what you have currently open. The topmost entry in the list is the folder within which you are working and the contents of that folder are displayed beneath it.
2.1.3. Footer
The footer gives you one-click access from everywhere to the contents of the four primary sections of the site.
As a competent and active EECS student, the IT team is fairly confident in your ability to find a register button on the site. When you fill in your information, you will be asked for which LC are you from. After this you must wait for the CP of your LC to confirm you as their member.
3.1. Whoa, it changed!
So what are all the new funny little boxes you’ve never seen before? As a registered user of the portal you’ll be entering the wonderful world of modifying information on the site.
3.1.1. The other top menu bar
This one will always give you the full path in which you are on the site. This allows you to easily navigate backwards up in the hierarchy. The bar also provides you with links to your LC, your user profile settings and a link to log out.
3.1.2. If you are seeing funny square buttons on pages that were not there before
These buttons are for all actions with which you can change the site. These buttons are contextually aware and depend on what you are viewing: you for example do not get an edit button for an article you cannot edit. Other relevant actions include adding your event application to an event or cutting and pasting the page from somewhere to somewhere else. Mostly you will not be seeing these boxes unless you are somehow deeper involved with EESTEC international.
You are able to apply for events.
4.1. Event Registration
If you find an event for which you’d like to apply, simply click on the event and there will be a convenient “funny box” button on the upper left corner of the document page for registration. You will be prompted to fill in your user profile details if you have not yet done so.
This level of access gives you the ability to add and manage events. Currently only one CP per LC can exist.
5.1. Event management workflow
As the CP of your LC you can create an event. At first it will not be published so you can tweak it all you want, but IA will be informed of your event. Once you are confident about funding, resources and in general in your ability to pull it off, you can publish the event and it is open for application.
You have an application deadline set for your event and the application process will automatically close upon that. You will already have all the food details, passport numbers and such details at your disposal at this point. Then you can pick your participants and confirm the event. Emails will be automatically sent to people about your decision.
This level of access gives you the ability to modify all public data. This is reserved for board members and board body positions. People obtaining this level of access will be individually trained for it.
For IT team usage: control of everything.
